A source tells me that Arkansas thought a game vs. LR was a done deal, but it actually fell through on Little Rock’s side.

I’m told that the Hogs also reached out to Arkansas State and UAPB to see if they could reschedule their game (which is scheduled for Wednesday) so they could play one of those schools...but they declined, too.

It caught the staff by surprise and left them scrambling. However, they managed to find someone (source wouldn’t say who) and a game should be announced pretty soon.

Football Bumper Pool named a semifinalist for Lott IMPACT Trophy

Arkansas junior LB Bumper Pool has been named a semifinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, the Pacific Club Impact Foundation announced Monday. The trophy is presented to a defensive player who has outstanding personal character while also excelling on the field. IMPACT is an acronym for: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Pool ranks second in the SEC and 13th nationally, averaging 11.0 tackles per game. For the season, he’s totaled 88 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, five passes broken up and a quarterback hurry. Pool made 20 tackles at Mississippi State, setting the FBS’ single-game high this season, while tying the program record for 10th most tackles in a game. He became one of just nine SEC players to reach the single-game 20 tackle mark in the last 10 years and the first Hog since Jerry Franklin (2010 – vs. Mississippi State). The Lucas, Texas product also chipped in two pass breakups to become the only Razorback to record 20 tackles and two passes broken up in the same game. For his performance, Pool was named co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week alongside teammate Joe Foucha. He made 14 tackles in back-to-back games against No. 8 Texas A&M and Tennessee, adding 4.5 tackles for loss in that span.

The junior has also done well in the classroom, being named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2018 and 2019.

Named after College and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Ronnie Lott, the organization has raised more than $1.6 million for scholarships and other youth-related charities throughout the country, is the only major college football award where the character of the nominee is considered.

FWIW: Stacey Wilkins (OU)

FWIW: I was on a flight from ATL this morning with Stacey Wilkins from OU (OL, from Camden Fairview) and he spoke VERY highly of Pittman. Said he developed a relationship with him during recruiting and Georgia was his #2 on his list. Said being an in-state guy he would have gone to UofA if Pittman were there.

Kid was extremely nice and respectful. Showed up to campus weighing ~270lbs and is now up to 305lbs.

What does SOS matter this year?

Cake walk or not, our OOC schedule is meaningless in a COVID year. It’s not easy to schedule folks these days, due to pandemic. We walk through OOC 10-0, and go win 12 lose 4 in the SEC. We will be a 5 seed or better no matter if we play Tulsa tomorrow or Southern. That’s what happens when you play in a P5 conference. Now, if we played in the SWAC and had a cake walk OOC sched, I’d be worried. Throw the SOS out the window, go win some games, and make a run in March with the other 130+ teams that make the tournament this year.

Officiating

I know I’m biased but this is getting ridiculous. I know you can and should say our defense and special teams lost that game. But every game the officials have made multiple calls that even the announcers were saying were obvious missses. I can easily say they caused us 3 losses. Any of y’all get on other message boards? Is this a common theme for all teams. I’m just curious if other teams are saying the same thing about officiating. It seems particularly bad this year but it also seems like there is an effort to keep us down? Why would that be?
