FB Recruiting HawgBeat Big Board Notebook: May 25, 2020

https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/hawgbeat-2021-target-big-board

Only one target came off the board this past week, Indy CC tight end Quentin Moore. Moore had offers from all over but decided he wants to play back home–committing to the University of Washington. Top target is obviously still Erin Outley. Hogs are in good shape with Outley. Moore's commitment means Arkansas is still in the running for seven of 10 offered JUCO players.

Another JUCO target is announcing his decision on Wednesday, Mississippi Gulf Coast DB Jadarrius Perkins. He's got one FutureCast pick in to Oregon (offered May 4), which he unequivocally called his dream school, but he has shown a lot of Arkansas love (offered April 24). Still don't think it'll be the Hogs Wedesday.

Arkansas made the top eight for Devon Manuel from Louisiana who I said last week talks to the staff at least every other day. With Arkansas–Michigan State, UCF, Iowa State, Kansas, Indiana, Houston. He told me he's not close to announcing a decision but Hogs definitely in the top 3.

Arkansas was put on North Shore OL Jaeden Roberts' list of top contenders by Rivals this weekend but all the futurecasts, including mine, are in favor of LSU, where he's visited multiple times. Decision Wednesday.

Raheim "Rocket" Sanders, WR out of FL, announced he's committing on June 8 (which is also the day athletes can be back on campus). I put my pick in for Sanders to Arkansas and you can read about why here.

The Hogs needed those three commits this month to keep pace in the SEC recruiting rankings and some more additions in June will keep the momentum going. Arkansas is ranked 11th of 14 ahead of South Carolina, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Only three schools are in double digits in commits, Tennessee, Florida and LSU. Tennessee is one commit shy of a full class AND they've only taken TWO in-state kids with six from Alabama. No wonder Arkansas isn't recruiting Tennessee very much this class, seems weak af.

Ahmari Huggins-Bruce, WR out of SC, had Arkansas in his top 12 but as he's approaching an announcement "very soon," he's trending all Louisville. Jaedon Wilson, Ketron Jackson and Raheim Sanders still the top WR target group.

Favorite SEC away stadium/game experience

I’ve been to every SEC stadium over the years at one time or another sans South Carolina. Georgia and Auburn were the two best experiences for me from a stadium, campus, fan interaction, and overall game experience. Maybe it helped that we won those games, but the fans were gracious and the atmospheres electric. The campuses and stadiums in both Athens and Auburn were fantastic.

Tired of getting ass blasted in Tuscaloosa, like The Grove fine, Tennessee fans are the worst, and Mudd State is just a sad experience. What say you?

A safe way to open up sporting venues...

1) Outdoor sports with outdoor seating needs little modification since direct sunlight (UV rays, cloudy or not) kills the virus in as few as 5 mins. Just check the temperature of all who enter and do not allow anyone in with a fever and force hand sanitizer as they enter.

2) Indoor seating is the challenge...you could employ UV chambers sort of like the booth you pass through @ the airport and zap the fans with brief but intense UV light from head to toe...all indoor fans must wear a face mask. It would also be tremendously beneficial if all indoor seating were modified to a negative pressure environment which shouldn't be difficult or expensive from an engineering aspect (most hospital rooms/wards for Covid (+) patients employ negative pressure to safeguard the healthcare workers). You could easily install UV lighting indoors as well with very little cost.

OT Cruises

Trying to book a cruise for our anniversary, would like to set out in New Orleans. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Not bringing the kids fyi. Just a short get away, 4-5 days. Never booked anything before always let the wife handle it. Thank you!!

Got my bar open at 25% in Austin.

This time off has really hurt some government bureaucracies... They only have two full time Tabc agents for the whole city of austin, which is the agency that regulates any place that sells alcohol. Also, the fire department only has two full time fire Marshall’s for the whole city... Great news for the bars because they’re not going to enforce anything. They need our tax money to get back up and running. TABC is purely funded by a liquor tax in Texas.

For reference, I imagine Austin has around 20 of each usually.

A Fire Marshall literally told me I could let 40 more people in when we were already at 25%...

I’m sure none of you give a shit but I’m sober and feel like posting.
