Football NCAA to defer to conferences, states, schools

The NCAA won't mandate or oversee a uniform return to college sports, NCAA president Mark Emmert said Tuesday, leaving decisions on start dates to state officials and university presidents.

College athletics came to a halt in mid-March, when the NCAA canceled the men's and women's basketball tournaments, along with all remaining winter and spring championships, because of the evolving threat of the coronavirus pandemic. There is still no timetable for a return, and Emmert said it isn't the NCAA's role to determine one in this instance.

"Normally, there's an agreed-upon start date for every sport, every season," Emmert told ESPN, "but under these circumstances, now that's all been derailed by the pandemic. It won't be the conferences that can do that, either. It will be the local and state health officials that say whether or not you can open and play football with fans.

"We already saw the Oregon governor offering her views on what's likely to happen in September. The Pac-12 can say, 'Gee, we'd all like to open up on this date,' but whether or not you can is going to be ultimately up to the state and local health officials and the campus itself making a decision whether or not they want to go forward."

Best High School Player You’ve Watched Live

So many kids are absolute animals in HS then go on to be duds in college, don’t make it to college, etc.

Who are some of the best high school players you’ve ever seen live? Doesn’t have to be guys that made it to the league. Can be hometown legend type guys, guys that didn’t care about sports enough to go play after HS, whatever.

For me:

Michael Dyer at Lakeside 2008. He was coming off a twister ankle the week. Ran for 274 and 5TD in the first half, against a D that had only given up 233 total rushing yards in the first 4 games.

Kalenna Azabuike (Player at KU, NBA, Overseas) Victory Christian played some school like Sunshine Prep in Kansas in a big show case at ORU in Tulsa. Gym sold out. Dad and I went to see Kalenna.. he dropped 73. Think he shot 78% or something stupid like that.

Ky Madden was killer in high school, too. Watched him drop 36 against Parkview and Aaron Ross at a sold out LR Hall arena.

OT Techies, help me out here. Mac to PC conversion.

I have an 11 year old I-Mac ( 27” desktop).

When I did my taxes this year, Turbo tax told me as i was loading it up that my Mac operations system would not be able to load the 2020 version of Turbo Tax because it wouldn’t be supported on my current operating system, and that I might better think about a new computer. I then realized I was not getting prompted fo about constant updates for my Mac operating system form Apple as I had in the past. Alas, it appears that my perfectly running Mac has been abandoned.

I’m not in the mood to spend another $2,000 with Apple to replace a computer that they have decided to make obsolete, so I’m thinking about buying a laptop PC or maybe a “tower” running windows.

Question is , how hard is it, and what do I need to do, to move files from my Mac to a windows machine? Can I still use the Apple cloud for photos, music etc? If no can I store that stuff on some other cloud that is brand agnostic about my hardware and operating system? While still using my Mac? Google cloud for example.

What else do I need to consider in all this?

PS- My wife and I are very light users, no gaming, just emails, web browsing, some video streaming, paying bills online, and my annual Turbo Tax thing to satisfy Uncle Sam. I do have an extensive ITunes music collection, and tons of photos. But we use a tiny fraction of or 1 TB storage on the Mac. RAM is an issue at 4GB so Ill definitely buy an 8GB or higher memory machine.

Thanks in advance , I'll hang up and listen.
