OT 100% NOT the Official Off-Topic/Politics/Corona Thread

My goodness. Now that is some logic right there. Your saying its ok they was wrong because they had inaccurate info? Im at a loss for words here.
It's not "inaccurate info" it's the info they have at the time. You only get more accurate as more data comes in–that takes time. So instead of endangering a ton of people, you take the cautious route until you have a clear picture of what the situation really is.

The other option is to look at the data, say nah i don't believe it, do whatever the hell you want and then have nothing to fall back on when 100,000 Americans die. Good luck getting re-elected with that strategy

Yeah, that makes no sense.

Teacher: "2+2=5"
*Student on Test*
Student: "2+2=5"
World: "2+2=4"
Student: "But my teacher said it was 5!!! It's the only data I had at the time!!"
World: "Well, your teacher gave you inaccurate info."

Ignorance/innacuracy is not an excuse for being incorrect. Just provides those that prognosticated the info were inaccurate.

Well that was the dumbest use of an example i've ever seen.

It's not a simple math problem with one answer that needs no other data to figure out. That's not how this works.

I don’t think your response is going to accomplish what your hoping it will. He said it’s not that bad if you are under 65, not that you can’t get the virus if you are under 65. Unless the death rate percentage drastically increases in cases of people under 65 then I think his point still stands.

So rather than refuting it, like an intelligent person, you just say, "It's dumb."

I'll be glad in 3 years when you've moved on to, "bigger and better things." Hopefully it's sooner.

Actually it is. It's literally a math problem: In the susceptibility model, the basic reproductive number is R0 = βN/α, the mean generation time is Tg = 1/α, and the epidemic growth rate is r = (R0−1)/Tg.

There are a lot of variables that equates to one answer. They got some of the variables wrong and gave an inaccruate number. I tried to simplify it for you...didn't work.

So you think the variables they plug in on Day 1 are the same on Day 100?

No...they received new info....

Like a teacher thinking 2+y=5 when they think "y" is 3...but it turns out it's 2...

But just because they got "y" wrong, doesn't mean you can hide behind, "well, it's all we knew."

I think my point is that in some areas the younger age groups are seeing the highest % of growth in infections, therefore, "being all right" doesn't accomplish much either.

what other symptoms did you have?

Had fever, chills, body ache (but that's just about every shift after I work anyway) and beginnings of a sore throat.

That was all Tuesday night. Wednesday when I woke up all I had was the fever (around 99.3) and a scratch throat. Woke up today with no symptoms of anything.

When you consider that Trump inherited an economy that was growing and Obama inherited an economy that was cratering then yes Trump's deficits are very troubling. Is Forbes fakenews?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckj...deficits-are-racing-past-obamas/#35f0b71a4819

Growth numbers should be better when building from a terrible economy than when building from a good one. There's much more room to improve.

It's much easier to lose ten pounds when you're 5'10 350 lbs than it is for someone the same height who weighs 170 with 8% body fat.

Ok so yes, they were wrong, by your standards. But it's impossible to be correct. They did the best calculation they could have with the data available. it's all you can do, it doesn't guarantee correctness. Nobody knows the answer. we still don't. it's still changing.

My argument is they did their job correctly given the resources they had, aka, the best they could do and the best anyone could do

and? Those are numbers. Big deal. I'm talking about the severity of having it.
For oulde like yourself, you may die. If you were a bull ox like myself, well hell, I might have already had it and not known it. Hope this finds you well.

So I guess all of the times you commented on how Trump hasn't done enough or whatever he's done I could have used, "It's impossible to be correct?"

Yes the death rate and the infection rate are two different things but I was just pointing out that this theory that only older people have anything to worry about is becoming proven to be untrue, at least when it comes to being infected.

Then why have them? You're always griping about the pandemic team being disbanded, blah blah blah but in the same breath you say that it's impossible for them to be correct.

You're talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Here's the facts everyone. Sports will be starting back up soon. This thread will eventually be locked.

If you had dreams that this might hit 300 pages, I'm sorry, but you'll be disappointed.

Not really two comparable situations, but sure, if you'd like
One group makes educated decisions based upon the information they've gathered: "can't be mad if they get it wrong."

Another person, who has probably hundreds of people attempting to make educated decision based upon the information gathered: "different situation, totally can be wrong."

Got it.

To do the best they can!! Is your argument really that we should do nothing versus try the best we can?? Of course it's not, you're just trolling me like you always do

Define soon? Because the first US competition won't be until we are at least 400 pages (and that's just PGA). MLB and NBA seem like they may not even happen.

Trump not wearing a mask to set a good example for the American people - totally wrong.
There's an example for you.

Only 49% of republican men say they wear a face mask in public places. Wonder why that is. Wonder if that will result in more people spreading infection. Wonder why he wont just wear the damn mask.

but what a way to go......................am i right?Lol.... Everybody has to go at some point. It's all predetermined anyway. Smoke camel no filters from the age of 11 until you're 80 like my grandpa and live to be 84 and at the same time some marathon runner drops dead at the age of 35 with 4% body fat. WTF. Go live.
