OT 100% NOT the Official Off-Topic/Politics/Corona Thread

How does that work with state run media though. You think they are going to post facts that make the adminstration look bad?

Very unlikely.
Yes, they would.

  • Just like the SEC posts information that makes the largest financial companies look bad.
  • Or the CDC posting things that make the WHO look bad
  • Or the FTC
  • Or the DOJ
  • Or the FBI
We literally having an agency for almost every other business in a free market other than press. Our 1st amendment would keep the state run media outlet from becoming authoritarian. However, that same amendment, and the ever powerful, "source," has made it basically free reign on libelous claims without reprecussion.

I'm just sick of news agencies fracturing this country.

Ya I’m not all in in gov run media but I do believe there has to be accountability for the media. There has to be some way to hold media accountable for purposely perverting the truth. It’s becoming more and more volatile and breeding extremism on both sides which isn’t going to end well. I’m all for the reporting of news but there is a huge difference between reporting the news and creating news. Seems to me the media we have now spend more time creating stories as opposed to just reporting them.

And how many of those departments have had a leader fired during the Trump administration? If the boss doesn't like what you say, you're gone.

So you're saying because the president, Trump in this case, could remove the head of the agency, that the agency would not be valid? I feel like you just invalidated a shit ton of agencies.

The executive branch only has so much power. He/She can remove the boss and appoint a new boss, but they can't dictate what the new boss says/does. Trump is finding that out 1st hand.

I don’t know anything about this guys but I was sent this earlier from a friend and he seems to make some pretty good points. Specifically the way the news chooses to portray things and the hypocritical elected officials. I wonder considering most have come out and confirmed racism is a major problem and has been for a long time why are they just now speaking out and desiring to make a stand. Most of these politicians have been in office for a long time but instead of focusing on there failures they choose to pin it on the scapegoat (Donald Trump). I’m not saying Trump shouldn’t take part of the blame for this but there is a lot of blame that can be passed around the government. I find it harder to believe these politicians have all of sudden woke up to all the injustices being done then I do believing that they are saying what they know that there base wants to hear on a hot button topic so that they can accumulate votes.

Yes, I'm saying exactly that. He's done it multiple times already during his administration, he's also fired people investigating him and his staff.

But, not even specific to Trump, any President that would have power over what news can be shown will abuse it.

I don't know the inner workings of the departments you described earlier, but those departments are dealing with reports/findings/data, that is information that is hard to fabricate/sway an opinion on.

The news is quite different.

Again, just because the executive branch can change the boss, doesn't mean they dictate the boss. They can choose the boss and assume that the boss will impose what they want...but that boss also can't break the law. China's CCP is so strong because there are no laws against the government from becoming authoritarian and enforcing whatever they want.

The assumption that because the president can oust a boss therefore making the position and/or agency invalid, would pretty much destroy our democracy

yeah, 6 minutes have gone by without a response. Not a good sign for dicktales. You're much better off getting an immediate non-researched response based on emotion. 6 minutes means he's researching. Putting together a bullet point presentation.

nothing from nothing, but I really feel like the Deputy Chief Management Officer of Defense, Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation got a raw deal.

Honestly, I love excel. We have state statutes that have required us to inform our customers if/when we have products that have substances beyond exposure thresholds. We don't prepare consumer products (shit you buy off the shelf), so we can't produce exposure statements; however, we can provide statements based upon our customers use of our product and whether or not our product would have a substance beyond the limitations required for statements. I read the statute, incorporated it into an excel, synced it with our SAP database, and produced a template using acess to make it the a 4 step process and then a click of an icon. It takes 5 minutes to respond to a customer.

Our competitors currently use a third party that charges them over 7 figures a year to produce, review, and publish.

Toot away. My aunt used to say "It ain't bragging if it's true".

Mattis is a disgruntled employee that was fired speaks for itself. He’s doing a good enough job smearing his own reputation. He’s a lib hack, just like lying Col Vindman. You calling Flynn a liar when there’s 0 evidence to suggest that is you embarrassing yourself. But facts be damn because of blind loyalty. No smear y’all can come up with can take away Joe’s dementia and make him win in nov. MAGA

You and I will never agree on this. I know by now I’m not changing your mind on anything and you certainly aren’t changing mine on this.

Well @jdr0269 is 100 times smarter than I am, so I'll concede to him on the subject. We're just discussing hypothetical situations anyway so in the end it's not that important.
Bull shit on the smarter thing.

I agree on the hypothetical. I would like it to be so in order to have CNN respond to, "you said China hacked our computers to help the Pubs, XXX has stated they did hack our computers; however, it was both and they saw equivalent propaganda for both pubs and dems. Care to comment?"

I learned Control-V is paste a few weeks ago so I can help too.
Hot keys are great. I'm not one of those freaks that doesn't touch the mouse, but if I have an action I do CONSTANTLY, I learn the alt code and I've found it definitely speeds things up.

CNN replies with “expert correspondent” who spins it however they want. Foxnews does the same.

Threw me off for a second when you kept saying "Pubs" but I got it in the end when you said "pubs and dems" lol.

Internal my man. You'd have to have a company email, haha. Additionally, it's filled with company sensitive info.

Maybe the "intro to excel one"...give me a moment. And no one can make fun of me. I literally was trying to dumb it down for the computer illiterate.
