so if you talk about bestiality, you should just follow it up with this and then all is good. got it.

1. A lot of opinions on both sides and most are shallow , gut feeling responses that do not go deep enough which is what happens on the internet.

2. Some say A&E is a business and has the right to do what they did........yet if I owned a cafe and said I will not serve somebody because I did not like something about them....I could be closed down. Is that a double standard?

3. To all the polygamist out there, sorry but you are not gay so you do not have equal rights

As a Christian Phil's believes that homosexuality is wrong (I do as well) and he is quoting the Word of God as proof. And he is also throwing in his belief that it is not right or natural, which I also agree with. If everyone was gay 200 years ago the population would have ceased to exist. Now, the scripture he is quoting included other sins, and when we live in sin then we are in danger of not being with God, but that is not up to us but God. But sinning and living in sin are two different things. Bring a drunk or an adulterer or gay without any attempt to change your life is living in sin. We all sin and do it everyday, but asking for forgiveness and trying to live the way God commands us is different. I'm sure someone will tear this down, and that's fine, but I know I sin every day and by the grace of Jesus I will be forgiven. Also, I do have a brother who is Gay, we know where each other stands, I love him and he loves me. I pray for him and hope that he changes his lifestyle, it's slim but we still have a good relationship.

The liberal media hates Christians because are beliefs for the most part infringe on the lifestyle's of many, which is nothing new and exactly why Paul was speaking to the Corinthian church about these same issues.

Actually not true, he was dropped by several advertisers if my memory serves me correctly. He also received a ton of flack from the media.

I never thought I'd see the day when AMERICA would become so bankrupt of ethics and morals. It's never pushed on anyone...but they still can't even stand for anything close to it to be mentioned it in public. We're in trouble.....
I don't agree with the discipline either, but you guys are blurring free speech with the right of a company to require certain type of conduct from it's employees. He has the freedom to speak about whatever he wants, but individuals and companies have the right to react to that as they see fit. Again, I think it's way too much PC that's going into this and causing the reaction from the network, but it's their right just as it's his right to say what he wants. Freedom of speech does not exclude you from repercussions by society to what you say, no matter how much we might disagree with that.
THANK YOU. Some of you people and your "free speech" arguments are so far off base it is not even funny. This dude said it better than me

What would your thoughts be if he said we should bring back slavery and quoted any of these?

As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,

Slaves are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior

"You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you.

"Now these are the rules that you shall set before them. When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,'

Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do

"If a man lies sexually with a woman who is a slave, assigned to another man and not yet ransomed or given her freedom, a distinction shall be made. They shall not be put to death, because she was not free;

But if a priest buys a slave as his property for money, the slave may eat of it, and anyone born in his house may eat of his food

I could go on and on.........

WFMC if you don't watch then why do you care if its on or not? I could care less what you watch.

Phil did not state his opinion, but Gods. The problem in America is that it wants to silence or somehow make irrelevant God in our culture. This is just another example.

Our culture has built an alter to PC and worships it daily. There is no place in America for God anymore as long as you stay in your little buildings on Sunday everything is alright (for now) but bring Gods word into the darkness and the rats start to scurry around.

Phil was talking about sin and a lack of Jesus in cultures. People get a little spooked when confronted by the word of God.

Tell me this, Does Alec Balwin still do commercials for Capital One? Does Paula Dean still have her show? Which one of these came out 3 months ago spewing hate for a certain group and still has a contract. Which one got canned for hate comments 20+ years ago?

Onto the Freedom of Speech, while the govt isn't going to come and take your freedom away, lawyers will make it to where you dont have a life to live. Any slander from a White Christan is going to have action taken to the max. When if the tables were reversed, its all gravy. Example number one, was when the Black panther party said they were going to start killing whites after Trayvonn's murderer got off. Imagine the outrage had any white person said the opposite.

Wow a lot of hoohaa over nothing IMO lol.

I have never watched the show. However this Phil dude has a right to what he thinks , just as A&E has a right to suspend him or cancel the show.

For the people that support what Phil said, Boycott A&E and let them know why.

For the people that agree with A&E, keep watching their station and let them know why.

The last two statements are really not for me lol. but if someone is that butthurt (no pun intended) over something then maybe it's better doing something about it rather then crying about it on a sports message board ?

Make sure your slaves are from Canada or Mexico to keep it biblical. If you have a problem with that, take it up with God, not me.

Read the entire article linked by the OP, then read the GQ article. I also didn't bring up his thoughts on pre civil rights conditions for African Americans in Louisiana. He says that if you allow gay behavior that the next progression of that is bestiality. He's saying they're synonymous, that they're both deviant behaviors. Read the entire GQ article. The guy said more than a few things that would get whim in trouble with his employer.

I have been a member for 184 months, a little over 15 years. I would venture to say that is more than the average.

The hatred and ignorance in this thread is a little disturbing. I lived in this fine state for a long while so I am certainly not immune to some of these lines of thinking but I am a little surprised how casually and with great hatred some of these comments are thrown around.

Atlanta here are the facts .....and I will be happy to take it to an appropriate forum if you wish to discuss, but I am a Jeffersonian/LIBERTARIAN.

People keep bringing up the rights of gays like they are a protected class or receive special treatment. Gays and lesbians do not have a guarantee of equal rights in this country, as there is no federal law protecting them from losing their job, being denied housing or services, losing their home and assets when a partner dies, making medical decisions for a partner even with a power of attorney, and on and on. There are 38 states that do not provide these protections either, and this has nothing to do with marriage, yet is about basic protections for law abiding , tax paying citizens of this country, many of whom are Christian, too. Although i don't agree with him, I could care less what Phil Robertson said , but appreciate that he followed it up by stating that we would be better off by loving one another and not trying to be the judge of others. Christ himself said the most important commandment is to simply love one another, and that should end the discussion.

Don't see any "facts" in your post here to review, but I do agree about the travesty it would be if he made the price of whiskey go up.

Well, yes. It is a business.
Go a little but outside of Arkansas (and Louisiana) and you'll find that the number of people supporting equal rights and equal treatment under the law for gays isn't such a "small faction of society." Even in Arkansas, that "small faction" isn't as small as it was a few years ago.

Re #2 … You'll be in trouble if you post a sign saying "Help wanted … No blacks or Chinese need apply." But if you post a sign saying you won't hire gays, you're fine. Polls show Arkansans think gays can't be discriminated against for the purpose of employment, but they're wrong. In Arkansas, it's perfectly legal. Until people realize it affects the relocation of businesses (and better jobs) to Arkansas, it'll continue.

But this is a sports board. How does this affect the Razorbacks sports program? Easy. Lots of students think Arkansas is a backwoods state for being behind the times and won't even consider going to school somewhere that they or their friends don't seem welcome.

Political correctness has run amok in this country. Sad that only a selected. protected, favored class is free to celebrate freedom of speech. My , how times have changed, and what comes next ?

Atl. I will be in Pine Mtn this spring and will be happy to buy you a whiskey -- let me clarify my position -- as a J/L I see anyone that is a republicrat/democan as a clear and present danger to MY life, liberty, and property. (insert pic of Rand Paul as idol)
smile.r191677.gif

PS My uncle was gay/Democrat and we had some REALLY FUN discussions .... he has passed and is in Heaven and I miss him

So tired of everyone getting offended by every little thing that celebrities say. This is like getting in an uproar over Honey Boo Boo. I don't agree with his opinion AT ALL, but A&E should have known what they had beforehand.

First off, i was just joking around when i said i hope they cancel it. I really don't care if it is on or not. Don't get your panties in a wad.

And Second, i haven't said anything about religion at all. You are taking this shit way too seriously....

That is very true AtlantaR.... You are not the only gay person on here... But, to my knowledge, you are the only one who has had enough courage to be "out"... So I just want to say thank you! It takes courage to do that especially in this forum with so many non-tolerant people on here...

WMFC... You are right. There have been some other great responses...

He can say whatever he wants. This has nothing to do with free speech. This is the free market that most of you claim to love so much. He can say it and they can suspend him or the show. That's how it works.

The show itself is beyond stupid. Scripted reality TV is for morons.

The funny thing is all the guys on that show are former drunks or womanizers that claim to be great Christians. Yet they judge others for being "sinners". They are a bunch of hypocrites.

The supposed problem that some people have with a company that thrives of off its viewers watching their programming, and the necessity for advertisers paying for the production of the shows, seems to be lost on the vast majority of you!!!!!
The answer to your quandary is pretty simple: don't watch the network. Either the network prospers with its decisions, or it loses both viewer share and income during that time slot. Free speech is not in question when you are being paid to entertain. Look at Fox Network removing that pinhead Sean Hannity from a valuable time slot. He made Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin look liberal, and Rupert could no longer take the loss of viewership [and $$$$$] in the 9-10 E.S.T. timeslot.
Voila He is Gone. Same with the "Giant conspiracy THEORIST" Glen Beck.He found a leftist pimko terrorist under every
grain of sand on every beach in America. When Rupert Murdoch fires you, you know there are severelimitations on free speech on paid for entertainment

Here is an idea. Just don't watch it!
Wow, such a novel idea! Guess what? I DON'T watch it because it is not funny nor is it entertaining.
How many times did you watch the show?

Doesn't really matter. There are 14 million people that do watch the show on a weekly basis that disagree with you.

I used to use the N word but finally figured out it was not acceptable and do not use it anymore, and I let other people know not to use it. I'm a hypocrite, just like every other person in the world based on what everyone says constitutes hypocrisy
