Your All-Time Animal Defense

Alright all you cool cats and kittens.
Your best, or most imaginative animal defenses ITT.
  • 11 spots,
  • individual animals, and of course we are talking about American tackle football.
  • Birds are permitted,
  • sea animals are not!
  • Extinct animals also not permitted!
  • You can't have more than one of the same animal either.
  • 4-3 defense
Lettuce begin:

SDE: grizzly bear (overall bad ass)
EDGE: leopard (fast asf but also powerful)
1 tech: African elephant (ultimate gap clogger)
3 tech: silverback gorilla (quick, powerful, good use of hands to work off double teams)
MLB: giraffe (have fun throwing in the middle of the field)
SLB: lion (sideline to sideline with excellent angles)
WLB: bloodhound (excellent tracker of the ball, verbal alerts to the other 10)
CB1: bald eagle (huge talons and wingspan)
CB2: cheetah (I mean, cmon.)
FS: honey badger (does not give a shit)
SS: a single hornet (big nuisance, sting hurts)

Henderson usage!

It may just be me like usual 😂 but I’d like to see them use Henderson more at tight end. He would be a hell of a lead blocker when we line them up at the h -back. That’s what’s lacking in our run game right now, is the h -back is a huge part of running and Hudson and kern aren’t doing that great. Plus I bet Henderson is athletic enough to catch a few passes. But go ahead and lay it on me why I’m wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️

Football BREAKING: Coach Pittman tests positive for COVID-19

STORY FROM HUTCH (will be updated): https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/pittman-tests-positive-for-covid-19

Head Coach Sam Pittman has tested positive for COVID-19. Coach Pittman was tested Sunday as part of the team’s normal protocol and he was informed this morning that his PCR test was positive. He is not symptomatic and is in self isolation at home. He retested this morning to confirm the results of Sunday’s test with those results still pending. All individuals who are considered close contacts have been notified and will enter quarantine guidelines. Coach Pittman will follow the SEC’s Return to Activity and Medical Guidance Task Force protocol for testing asymptomatic positives.

Coach Pittman will continue to be a part of team meetings virtually while in isolation. Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Barry Odom will serve as the team’s interim head coach in Coach Pittman’s absence.

FB Recruiting HawgBeat Big Board Update: Nov. 2, 2020

Sam Pittman talked about the challenges of this cycle today:
"We have several guys who are committed to us. We haven’t had many in the last couple of months. We talked about it in our staff meeting. Right now, everything’s kind of on hold. I think a lot of the kids are waiting to see if there’s going to be official type visits in January. We have not… From what I understand, we haven’t gotten that ruling yet. I still think there’s going to be a whole bunch of them sign early, but there’s that last group of guys who are going, ‘I don’t want to sign some place I’ve never been to.’ And heck, I don’t blame them. But we’re in a little bit of a holding pattern it seems like to me. Where we’re trying to attack is the ’22 class. We’ve got a pretty good number in the ’21 class, but we’re trying to go after the ’22 class, particularly in the state of Arkansas."

"We’re sending out all kinds of stuff all the time. Trying to talk about what we’ve done and who we have and awards they’re getting and all this kind of stuff. But even the atmosphere is not the atmosphere, unless you go to A&M and then you got a pretty good atmosphere down there. It’s hard to sell right now, to be honest with you. They can’t come and all those things. Hopefully they watch it on TV and get a feeling about who we are. Right now, we’re trying to sell ourself and is our program better than what it has been and all those things. That’s up to the individual on what you think about that. We’re trying to head in the right direction and play good football to give them a reason to come to Arkansas."

As far as updates go, nothing new on the offensive side. Looking unlikely that they take another offensive lineman out of the high school ranks at this point, unless they're talking to kids committed elsewhere that I haven't heard about.

Defensively, as I posted earlier today, Hogs had a virtual visit with Isaiah Iton, among several other programs to do so recently. Iton says he's not rushing a decision but he is a mid-year guy so he's got just a few weeks to get stuff figured out. Hogs could take him early and still have room for Cameron Ball to sign in February. Iton and Jalen Williams from Jones College are both high on the wishlist for Ole Miss.

Arkansas offered Garfield Lawrence, an East Texas defensive end, last week so I've added him to the board. They've got quite a few options up on the board now for the DL but narrowing down priorities is tough. I talked to Ru'Quan Buckley last week and even though he gave Arkansas some good lip service, analysts still don't think he's headed this way.

They're still in touch with DE/DT Jerrell Boykins from Louisiana as well as Iowa Central DE/DT Alex Lemon. Lemon isn't a mid-year guy, will graduate in May. His coach tells me they still have good conversation with the staff.

Garden City DL Arvell Ferguson hasn't picked up new offers since getting his from Arkansas in May which I don't think is a good sign, may need another year in JUCO. Seems if they really wanted Myron Green, the Memphis commit, they could've had him by now but maybe he's a backpocket target.

I'd say trending hottest right now are Ball, Iton, Ian Matthews and Garfield Lawrence but none are red hot.

FB Recruiting Razorbacks still fighting for Rivals100 Rayshaun Benny

I chatted with four-star lineman Rayshaun Benny before and after his team's game last night, and he told me Arkansas is one of five schools he is most locked in with right now. I do see Arkansas fifth out of those schools, in large part because he has visited the other four already. The dead period extension hurts the Razorbacks here, for sure, but they are still fighting here. More on Benny's recruitment in the article linked below:
