Baseball Friday scrimmage

Good news: Arkansas is scrimmaging at 2 p.m. Friday at Baum. It’s closed to the public (because of COVID-19), but it’s open to the media.

Bad news: My daughter is getting tubes in her ears tomorrow morning. We’ve been battling non-stop ear infections for 2+ months now, so our doctor recommended tubes. And my wife wants me to stay home all day with them, so I can’t go. (Side note: This stuff is EXPENSIVE. Donations to the “Tubes for Holly” fund can be Venmo’d to NWAHutch. Lol.)

More good news: I talked to Ryan, one of our interns who helped out back during the shortened baseball season and had done some recruiting stuff for Nikki, and he’s gonna go and cover it for us. He’s gonna write an observations piece, so we’ll still have some stuff for y’all to read.

Football Colorado State releases depth chart, announces starting QB

Colorado State's first game is this coming Saturday, Aug. 25, against Hawaii. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and it'll be televised on CBS Sports Network.

The Rams have released a depth chart that names - as expected - Washington grad transfer K.J. Carta-Samuels as the starting quarterback. Collin Hill, the previously expected starter, tore his ACL back in the spring, but has yet to be ruled out this season. However, I highly doubt he'd be ready to play Sept. 8 against Arkansas.

Tennessee transfer Preston Williams is a starter at wide receiver.

2021 in state b-ball.

Are any of these guys going to get D1 looks? Or even hog looks?

Terran Williams - G - 6’4
Ryan Maxwell - G - 6’4
Jordan Maxwell - G - 6’4
Madison Peaster - G - 6’1
Tam Releford - PF - 6’9

as far as I know, Terran Williams is the only one the hogs are even keeping an eye on. Just wondering if any of the basketball junkies had info on these guys?

Also do we have a legit shot at any of the following in your opinion?

Harrison Ingram - SF - 6’7 (#13)
Damion Collins - PF - 6’8 (#22)
Isael Silva - PG - 6’3 (#23)
Langston Love - SG - 6’4 (#39)
Trey Alexander - SG - 6’4 (#54)

Last question...anyone know Duncan Powell’s size right now? I’ve seen 6’7-6’9...195-220. Curious as to his size to date.

So, I thought y’all might like having a say in who I bring on the show since you tune in. I have a number of people with firm and tentative commitments to join, and others I can have access to if I ask (aka staff). I’m putting some names in here and y’all vote! Thanks!

*note: I have some big names I’m waiting for responses from that would leap frog almost all of these*

Nikki & Hutch - bad ?, sorry to ask or put you on the spot but

You can do this without bashing former staff or compromising your journalistic objectivity. (I know many posters will fill in gaps for us)
@NWAHutch and @nikkichavanelle

now that you’ve been around, interviewed, and seen some limited coaching / practice sessions, what are 1 or 2 things that jumps out at you with EACH position coach with CSP staff verses CCM staff. Again, I’m not asking for you to bash or criticize, that’s not fair or right.
But what are 1 or 2 things you see or pick up on that we may not
just 1 or 2 words, maybe a short sentence. I’m not asking for an essay, too much of your valuable time.

example:
coach Davis (vs Fry) seems to focus more on foot placement and hand position
or
coach Odom (vs chief) seems to emphasis on swarming to the ball more
or
coach Carter appears more direct and intense

FB Recruiting Four-star 2021 WR back in-play

Clayton (Ohio) Northmont WR Markus Allen told me that Arkansas coaches reached out to him after his de-commitment from Michigan last week. No offer yet, but a prospect worth keeping an eye on. More on Allen's recruitment in the article linked below:
