OT 100% NOT the Official Off-Topic/Politics/Corona Thread

It’s such a head scratching thing to me. Someone is suddenly vindicated because they type something into their phone. All I see all day every day are empty words and reposts. If I don’t put anything on twitter am I part of the problem? If that’s the case I think I’m gonna hang it up with social media.

this isn’t supposed to be aimed at you, Dicktales, I’m just getting frustrated with some of the virtue signaling I see around SM.
I think you’re overreacting a bit to my post. All I said was I liked the positive message she was tweeting out. Nowhere did I say a simple tweet was going to solve all the problems.

People are looking for the leader of the country to lead... instead he’s tweeting nonstop about military use on American soil.

If you think they are only going after looters and rioters you are severely naive. That is just the words they are choosing to use in place of "all protesters".
Did protesters burn St Johns and loot Lincoln Memorial - from what I have seen nobody is really going after the thugs, looters, rioters. Am I missing something?

You should have grown up in the 60's with all of your idealism dicktales. You would have had a blast.

sorry bud, I’m sure being a boomer is fun but I’ll enjoy my time here for the next 50-60 years hopefully.

Ok..specifically, the Insurrection Act. As stated, it has been employed before.

Military to military here...how do you feel about it though? I personally think we (active duty military) should be kept out of domestic shit like this. Our involvement against Americans destroys their trust in both the military and our democracy. The people are dissenting and it is the government's job to sort it out...politically.

It was honestly surreal.

My initial reactions were:

1. After some of the weapons we gathered from raids, the citizens were better armed than we were...outside of tanks and claymores.

2. Fear, but not in the way one would think. We were under to not engage unless engaged orders. If engaged, we were allowed to defend ourselves...which usually means lethal force. My fear was happens if a child or adolescent points a fake gun at me? You can't just assume either way...

Seeing how all of that unfolded on American soil is just hard to explain. It was definitely an uncomfortable deployment.

What was conversation like? Was the discomfort just understood or did people voice apprehension?

Trump just tear gassed and shot rubber bullets at peaceful protestors on live tv outside the White House while awkwardly holding up a Bible in front of a church.

He’s not just trying to silence the looters, he’s harming innocent civilians as well.
how did he carry all of those weapons by himself dicktales??

What I saw was tear gas and rubber bullets being fired to push back protesters that were just standing there.

is the National Guard not considered the military? Serious question for once.

All good man, I said rude things too.

HAHA - Trump sure cleared them out....that's awesome (wonder what horse he was riding). Hate that St Johns Church Burned last night.
Most normal people wouldn’t think Trump was out there personally doing things. He gives the orders.

but maybe I do need to dumb it down a bit.

Well, we're just taking things literally like someone else we know dicktales...................... :)

More to that, you always here about states calling up their national guard for all kinds of purposes, to include humanitarian missions and to stop riots. The federal government can use them too. Typically, the active duty hasn't been used in such cases and for the most part...it has been pretty bi-partisan for them not to. It sets a bad precedence when they bring the full force of the military against the people. I also think it will make matters worse, not better. It will give people a whole new thing to rage about. Also, a lot of "conscientious objectors" in the military would cause Trump to go on a Twitter rant and do damage to him personally.

He totally went after Trump for not addressing this sooner. If you didn't hear it that way, then you were intentionally trying not to listen to what he was saying.
I’m listening C4, to all of this. As a political student for more than 50 years it’s what I do. I look at both sides. I see what is going on, trust me America sees it too
