Obviously, this is a big win for Arkansas. NCAA sanctions or not, any time you can win a battle with Kansas, you’ve done something well. I don’t need to tell you guys about the Razorbacks’ momentum, obviously. Prospects are loving Musselman’s approach. And, after last season, they’re buying the dream he’s selling.
That said, even a small step forward this season could bring this thing to a fever pitch. A step backwards, however, could slow it. Year two is incredibly pivotal for an upstart program building recruiting momentum. It can be the difference in being perceived as a novelty and a full-fledged force. It’s why recruiting success often tends to compound.
Anyway, on to Pinion.
The kid is still developing physically and adding muscle, which isn’t a bad thing at all for his upside. He’s all of 6-foot-6 and while his jumper is what everyone notices first, he also does pretty well when it comes to scoring off the dribble.
Pinion is one of the more consistent shooters in the class from a mechanics standpoint and knocks down contested 3s with some regularity. He’ll be a long-range weapon for Arkansas right away and could become a more versatile scorer if he keeps getting stronger. The athleticism there. He just has to get stronger to score on the inside with regularity in the SEC.
Hope you guys are well.
