Elite 8 Tickets?

If we win Saturday, thinking of heading to Indy Sunday after church.
Anyone familiar with this crazy limited Covid season and minimal seating. I know Ticket Master has tickets, but are there some on streets of Indy in secondary market? Chances of waiting till Monday afternoon to purchase with hopes of better seats and prices going down?
When all you have are mobile tickets are/can they be counterfeit? Warnings what to watch for?
Last tourney went to was when we cut down the nets in Charlotte. I’m really out of the loop these days on protocol.
Thanks!

FB Recruiting Updates on three Texas WRs

I've been checking around with targets to see who else is getting invites for the OVs and getting other updates
Looks like the Hogs are out for Phaizon's former teammate at Lancaster Stephon Johnson. Johnson's set his OV to Oregon and is announcing his decision very soon. Told me he didn't have anything set up with Arkansas:

Watching Derrian Ford highlights and he looks the spitting image of Devo Davis with a good

3-point range. Very impressive. Ka'lel Ware highlights were also impressive...good footwork, smooth outside stroke, excellent moves, and actually uses the glass a lot when close to the basket which is a lost art among younger players today. IF we can land these two along with others we could live north of the sweet 16 on a routine basis the next few years.

Matchup vs. Oral Roberts

The last time Arkansas played Oral Roberts was 3 months ago, and Arkansas trailed 40-30 at halftime but went on to win 87-76.

A few things stand out to me when evaluating the matchup / what has changed over the 3 month span.
  • Arkansas has been through tough SEC matchups for 3 months and came out 2nd in their league while ORU finished 4th in the Summit.
  • The emergence of Devo Davis and Jaylin Williams came after the ORU game. In the first matchup, Devo played 9 minutes and Williams did not play at all.
  • Max Abmas’ 24.2 ppg led the NCAA Division 1. He scored 11 points against Arkansas in the first matchup on 4-11 shooting. This is the lowest total he had all season (excluding a blowout win that he only played 9 minutes).
I’m trying to temper my enthusiasm but I think getting a faster start, adding Devo/J-Will to the mix, and Muss’ ability to game plan for elite scorers makes this matchup extremely favorable for Arkansas.

Abilene Christian - 120mil for one tourney win

From Yahoo:

Plenty were excited about Abilene Christian's upset of No. 3 seed Texas in the first round of March Madness, but none had more reason to celebrate than the people running the school.

That's because beating the state's most popular team in one of the biggest events in sports was apparently worth quite a bit to the school's bottom line. How much? Here's what the school's top decision-maker had to say.

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

“So far we are close to $120 million plus and we really haven’t had time to tally up the totals,” ACU President Dr. Phil Schubert said in a phone interview from Indianapolis before his school played UCLA on Monday afternoon.
So one win means a nine-figure boon for a school. Just imagine if they had beaten No. 11 seed UCLA in the second round, rather than lose 67-47.

What's more, Abilene Christian reportedly estimated their only other trip to the NCAA tournament in 2019 had netted them $74 million, despite losing to Kentucky in the first round by a score of 79-44.

You might be wondering how a school could reach such an, ahem, unbelievable figure. Schubert basically explained it as March Madness being the best possible way to market a small private Christian university in Abilene, Texas:

“There are other places a university can make significant steps, but I’d say nothing compares to the level of visibility and market value that comes with men’s basketball, at least for us,” Schubert said. “There is no way we can afford the type of the kind of investment return we get here. It shows you what an incredible opportunity these situations bring.”
Such an effect has seen before with March Madness Cinderellas, such as the 27.5% spike in applications that Florida Gulf Coast University saw after its famous Dunk City run. A school being good at basketball shouldn't do much to affect the actual education students receive, but the basketball tournament is a pretty good way to announce your existent to high schoolers.

March Madness runs also usually lead to increased alumni donations, and there's always the actual NCAA payout that teams receive, though that's spread across the entire conference.

Anyone Know this Clown?

“When you look at the head coaches in this game, I think it’s one of the biggest mismatches you’re going to see round of 32... Chris Beard has to be licking his chops knowing Eric Musselman is on the other sidelines.”

Summit coach on what Arkansas should do versus Oral Roberts

"Arkansas might have gotten away with one against Texas Tech. Their shot selection, holy cow," one coach said. "[Razorbacks coach Eric] Musselman will do everything in his power to take Max and Kevin out. He'll do it by switching. My guess is they'll switch every single ball screen that Max uses. That was our best bet against them. Switch against them, put it on the floor and challenge on the rim. Defensively, they really push it down on the sideline and try to keep the ball from going middle. It's a little bit Texas Tech-ish, no middle -- but not quite to that extent. If your team is willing to pass, you can beat them. But if you drive the ball, you're driving into traffic."

Football Tidbits from Spring Practice 7

The Razorbacks are now halfway through with spring ball and the guys are taking a well-deserved break until next Tuesday. The players can go wherever they please for this shortened spring break, Pittman just wants to make sure they come back and stay safe.

Practice seven took place under cloudy conditions with a slight wind chill but it stayed dry enough to keep the practice outdoors and open to the media (for the first 8 periods).

The Hogs started off with individual drills all over the field. I was in my spot next to the defensive linemen with the DBs across the field. Clips of those drills are in here.

Jalen Catalon made his return to practice and his reps were as good as you'd expect from a freshman all-sec player despite the time off the field. He had a great rep in one-on-one coverage on Treylon Burks who, after dropping the pass, had to do pushups (on his 21st birthday by the way, happy birthday TreyBob). Catalon read the route assigned to Burks by Briles well. He was also one of the first successful DBs in a drill the Hogs did on the goal line.

The DB/WR pairs would go one by one, allowing Coach Carter to yell plenty of helpful tips at his DBs after each rep. The point stressed in the drill was to hold ground on the goal line, stay square and ready to come up for the play. Carter is consistent in his energy level, it's clear why the DBs as a whole have taken a big step forward. Trey Knox went first in the drill and beat his man to the corner for a grab, landing pretty hard.

One of the first DB v WR drills they did was to work on the defensive back's ability to shed their block and get inside leverage. Going one by one, the whole group was bringing energy to each mini competition. Analysts and grad assistants provided encouragement or notes after the reps.

A couple youngsters got reps with the first team defense in today's early live session. Eric Thomas Jr. and Jashaud Stewart were lined up on either end of Eric Gregory. During the twos portion, Rocket Sanders got the handoffs from Malik Hornsby.

During a special teams segment, new TEs coach Cody Kennedy was working with the punting unit to shore up their knowledge of the blocking scheme and the proper hand signal communication for what they're seeing across the line. Nothing to do with his coaching but Kennedy has some ridiculous calves.

I mentioned it in the highlight thread but the Hogs may make their April 3 scrimmage open to fans so make plans accordingly.
