I’m trying to remember a better catch by a Razorback and am not coming up with one.
My memory goes back to the early 90’s. There was a crazy Cedric Washington catch against Bama, I think. Jarius Wright had a similar catch against Tennessee (same game as the crazy Joe Adams punt return). Those 2 were a bit lucky to me and not as difficult as today’s Burks catch. The Birmingham catch to send the Hogs to Atlanta has bigger stakes. But from a pure ability, and difficulty level I can’t think of a better catch than Burks’ today.
So who do they choose? The one-armed former walk-on who had 19 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 2 PBUs and a game-clinching pick-six? Or the current walk-on with three interceptions against a QB who had only one the first three weeks + made 5 tackles?
How about none of the above? That’s right, they went with South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn...who had two interceptions, four PBUs and three tackles against a Chad Morris-coached QB.
It’ll be interesting to see what the SEC does with its awards today. My GUESS is that Morgan and Horn will be co-DPOTW, while Clark will be the SEC Freshman of the Week.
The dude has completely disappeared. I know he's slow as hell, but I didn't think he would be nonexistent as a contributor. I still think he could be a weapon in the redzone; needs more jump balls thrown his way.
Edit: I realized I'd rather us just throw the jump balls to Burks anyway. Poor Knox.
Obviously we all know what PittBoss has done but watching the Atlanta Falcons today shows what can happen. I know they are playing a crappy Vikings team but 30-7 on the road when you are 0-5 is a big deal. I need this because I know the Braves will choke away tonight
I’ve seen enough from our defense now that I like our chances in every remaining game except Alabama. These are not necessarily bold predictions at this point, but they would have been unthinkable 3 weeks ago. I just want to highlight how far we’ve come in Pittman’s 1st season.
1. We finish .500 or better in SEC play for the first time since 2015
2. We hold Alabama to their lowest point total this season (currently Mizzou at 38)
3. The Pitt Boss sweeps the 1st-year SEC coaches (currently at 2-0 with only Drinkwitz left.) I realize this isn’t saying much at this point, but imagine thinking this at the beginning of the season! And I can’t wait to see what Barry Odom does to Mizzou’s offense…
I’m sure someone can pull the stats from the previous 3 years or so, but we’re currently 4th in the country in defensive efficiency through four conference games and three games against ranked opponents.
Game two of the Fall Series started at 1 p.m. The game is on SEC Network+. Kole Ramage (RHP) is the starting pitcher for the Red team and Caleb Bolden (RHP) is on the hill for the Black squad.
Hutch will have some coverage later but no live updates
I thought we played conference only this year? Saw on the ESPN ticker that we play some school named Idle?... couldn’t find any info. Figure they’re a small school or something. Anyway, gotta think we smoke them in prep for A&M the following week! Go Hogs!
Feels good to knock off both first year coaches out of MS. Puts them back in their rightful place as the shittiest state in the SEC, and makes the Pittman hire look that much better.
...I was an immediate believer. He was a sophomore at Warren and did THIS in a state semifinal game: Login to view embedded media
Truly a man amongst boys, as a sophomore in HS.
