Virginia to remove a Robert E Lee statue.
This is always difficult as a historian. I was sitting in a group once that was discussing it. The black man in the room, a historian from SE Arkansas, generally opposes the removals. I tend to agree with him. The argument being that we should work to remember those historical moments for what they teach us. Others see monuments as too celebratory.

Definitely a sticky subject. On one hand, it's a violent history, but it helped mold our nation. I think you get smarter by knowing history and dumber by trying to erase/forget about it.
But that's me saying that as a middle aged white man. I imagine I might feel differently if I wasn't.
